The table was coming loose from the stand, and it needed refinishing.
Above is a view of the bottom of the table top. I unscrewed four wood screws to remove it from its iron leg stand. The wood strip edges were loose on both sides, and the reverse side (top) had uneven varnish and multiple cigarette burns (see below).
I removed the edge strips, cleaned them off, and glued them back together.
Sanded and painted the stand with flat Rustoleum. Sanded the top of the table.
Applied two coats of Boiled Linseed Oil and three coats of Waterlox with blue shop towel. Buff with 0000 superfine steel wool between coats. Reassembled the table...
